I want to participate in SHIP as I have heard wonderful things about the program. I want to to enhance my current veterinary skills. I also would like to gain more hands on experience as a veterinary assistant/technician and be able to closely work with a veterinarian on specific cases. I desire to apply my current knowledge in a veterinary hospital setting. I particularly want to learn more about laboratory work and surgery along with assisting during exams. Furthermore, I want to learn more about the atmosphere in a Harbor Hospitals and build professional connections in the veterinary field as a whole.
I hope to bring positive, energetic and hard-working attitude along with a great client care to SHIP practice this summer.
If I had extra $40,000 I would love to invest that money into the geriatric care and end-of life care in my practice. I am a strong believer that we, as future generation of veterinarians can be the great break through when it comes to geriatric patients. I want to provide my patients with the absolute best care throughout their entire lives. I think that often times the end of life care can be very limited due to money and resources. I am hoping to be able to apply my veterinary medical knowledge to further develop the quality of care of older patients. I would like to make my practice, geriatric friendly. Some of my current ideas, would be to provide pain relief for older patients, and focus on their bodies as a whole. I would also want to have a separate comfort room for hard end of life discussions along with euthanasia procedures. I think having a more geriatric friendly practice would benefit clients, pets along with the practice as a whole since there are not many practices having the focus on geriatric care.
If my practice was struggling to achieve our business goals, I would establish monthly meetings with my entire staff. The purpose of these meetings would be to educate my staff on current practice-wide goals. I believe that meetings like this would allow all staff members to feel included and involved. During the duration of these, I would like to hear my team's input on current issues and potential solutions. These meetings would allow the team to grow closer and work towards the goals together. When each little goal is achieved, I would inform my staff about that and make sure they feel rewarded for their hard work. I would intend to make these meeting enjoyable by hosting raffles, or similar games. The goal is to grows as a team and better the practice rather than make these meeting mandatory and unpleasant.

Veterinary practices, and the field itself can be a rather difficult work environment. I desire to create a veterinary practice that can take a step back from the stigma surrounding veterinary medicine. I would like to be a part of the practice where every staff member feels valued, because in the end we need each and every one of us to practice good medicine. I believe that team bonding is crucial to have a strong team. I also want to have the ability to aid my staff throughout their continuing education. The only way I can achieve these goals is via seeking ownership of a practice.

I would require my cat, Sam, to come with me. He is a 5 year old domestic short hair that has a huge spot in my heart. Sammy has helped me throughout college and is my number one patient in vet school. He is extremely friendly and makes a perfect patient to practice physical exams.

- Mixed animal
I would love to continue working with small animals. I am also interested in learning more about exotics and large animals. I have very little surgery experience, and if possible I would like to expand that.
