Ultrasound competence isn’t built in a weekend. It’s built through repetition, feedback, and follow-through. This program is a hybrid, cohort-based pathway that combines self-paced foundational lessons, live faculty-led sessions, and a hands-on wet lab led by board-certified radiologist Dr. Ken Waller. It’s built to continue past the last lecture: what you learn here moves with you into the lab and stays with you through continued peer-based learning via this Harbor community afterward.
Who it’s for: Veterinarians who want to build a consistent, repeatable abdominal scanning routine for general practice or urgent care.
Pre-work gets you ready.
The wetlab gives you hands-on reps.
Post-workshop mentorship helps the skills stick.
How the program is structured:
PHASE 1: Prepare with pre-recorded and live course content
- Pre-recorded lessons:
- Foundational on-demand RACE-approved content including machine fundamentals and the “Big 5” organs (liver/gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, bladder/prostate)
- These video lessons are being created exclusively for this course!
They’re in final editing and we anticipate them being available by August 17. - TRY TO COMPLETE LESSONS 1-5 BEFORE THE IN-PERSON LAB.
- Live Virtual Prep Session – Get Ready for Action!
- August 18th, 2026 – Meet your instructors and fellow learners!
- Logistics and additional wet lab details will be provided.
- We will discuss imaging windows/anatomy, address questions, spend some time understanding where each veterinarian is in their learning journey.
- In this session, you will:
- Develop your professional goals tied to ultrasound
- Learn what to expect during the scanning time of the wet lab
- Learn what comes after the wet lab and how to prepare
- Join a community of like-minded learners
PHASE 2: Hone Your Craft – Intensive Clinical Skills Wet Lab
- Join Harbor on August 22–23 for an Ultrasound Skills Wet Lab at Creekside Pet Care Center in Keller, Texas.
- Participants will actively strengthen their abdominal scanning techniques, practice with expert coaching in a low instructor-to-student setting, and leave with a repeatable approach for scanning the organs and structures you encounter in everyday practice.
- Additional live, instructor-led lessons and review on the GI, pancreas, adrenals, abdominal lymph nodes, and FNA decision-making, will be delivered.
- These lessons are all available for viewing after the in-person lab as well.

PHASE 3: Ongoing
- Ongoing instructor feedback and a cohort of fellow learners here on Harbor help keep you accountable, keep you scanning, asking questions, and building consistency after the program wraps.
- Harbor will host four additional live, RACE-approved virtual sessions built around engaging case reviews, lectures, and round table sessions.
- For those who want to invest additional CE budget into mentorship, participants will also have an opportunity to sign up for more custom, 1:1 personal mentorship!
