This virtual event is RACE approved for 1 hour of CE

This session provides an evidence-based exploration of alfaxalone designed to build veterinarians’ confidence in using it safely and effectively in their clinical practice. Dr. Carolyn McKune will review labeled indications, pharmacology, and practical use across species, with emphasis on dosing, storage, and controlled substance considerations. Attendees will learn about alfaxalone’s advantages and disadvantages in dogs, cats, and higher-risk (ASA III–V) patients, including its effects on cardiovascular and respiratory function, infusion protocols, and recovery profiles. The presentation will conclude with guidance on how to confidently incorporate alfaxalone into clinical use for those accustomed to propofol-based protocols.

Through this virtual event, participants will be able to:

  • Understand key pharmacologic and practical information on alfaxalone
  • Evaluate the benefits and limitations of alfaxalone in various patient populations
  • Apply independent, evidence-based reasoning to decide whether to integrate alfaxalone into practice
  • Learn practical steps for transitioning to alfaxalone use
